Flora Danica Hippopotamus Service
Here we will show pictures of all the pieces from the biggest commissioned service in newer times from Royal Copenhagen. It consists of 140 items plus 12 plates that were made as gift to selected collectors or museums.
The pictures will follow shortly, but we will provide information below where the service was exhibited.
The service was commissioned by Richard Baron Cohen an American porcelain collector and a person that truly appreciates good typographical porcelain. He was the owner of the largest collection of Neoclassical porcelain on private hands from mainly KPM and Serves.
The Royal Copenhagen Hippopotamus Service was commissioned through Danish Porcelain Imports, a former Danish Porcelain dealer in the U.S.
In the last 4 years Mr. Cohen has also built an impressive collection of both Flora Danica and also Neoclassical porcelain from Royal Copenhagen and Bing & Grondahl. Mr. Cohen owns some of the nicest items to come out of the factory in that period. WHERE WAS THE HIPPOPOTAMUS FLORA DANICA SERVICE DISPLAYED
July 28th to November 4th, 2007. The Hippopotamus Service was be exhibited at the Schloss Charlottenburg in Berlin, Germany.
