MUSEUMS WHERE THE ORIGINAL FLORA DANICA DINNERWARE CAN BE VIEWED

ROSENBORG CASTLE: This is where you will find the largest display of the Royal Copenhagen Dinnerware, 592 pieces in total

SØLVKAMMERET, CHRISTIANSBORG: Here is the largest collection of Flora Danica with a massive number of 702 pieces. This is the queens "Personal" stock of Flora Danica and is not on regular display. But is from time to time on display at museums around the word.

FREDENSBORG CASTLE: 131 piece of Royal Copenhagen Flora Danica is located here. Not on display for the General public. This is the Queens private residence and also the Crown Prince Family residence.

THE NATIONAL MUSEUM: The National Museum is taking visitors on a journey traversing the cultural history of Denmark. You can also enjoy The Children’s Museum, Ethnographical Collection, The Royal Coin Collection and Classical and Near Eastern Antiquities. 27 pieces of Flora Danica is located here. To our knowledge not all piece is on display.

FREDERIKSBORG CASTLE: Frederiksborg castle was built between 1600 and 1620 by King Christian IV. In order to make way for the new renaissance castle, most of an older complex of buildings, which King Frederick II had acquired in 1560, was torn down. The buildings are situated on three islands in the castle lake. On the southernmost island stand the remains of Frederick II's original complex.

The castle is influenced by the traditional style of the Netherlands just like many other of King Christian IV's buildings, for example Rosenborg Castle and the Copenhagen Stock Exchange. It is possible to walk around the castle lake on a footpath.

THE MUSEUM OF APPLIED ART: The Danish Museum of Art & Design is one of Scandinavia’s central exhibition forums for Danish and international industrial design, decorative and applied arts. The museum’s collections, library and archives constitute a central resource centre for the study of design and its history in Denmark. The Danish Museum of Art & Design brings together and documents the contemporary developments within industrial design, decorative and applied arts. We must add to this the collection of exemplary works from older “areas” and periods, which are closely related to contemporary oeuvres. The Danish Museum of Art & Design undertakes research into the history of art and design, taking as its point of departure the museum’s own collections, and presents the results in exhibitions, publications and educational material etc.
